Around 30 people turned up to our last lobby of Hillingdon Council on the 13th Jan, including local Trade Unionists from the UCU (lecturers union), CWU (postal workers union), Unite and GMB.
The council refused to discuss budget cuts at their meeting, and tried to intimidate our group with the ‘Anti-Terror’ Laws. We were not dissuaded!
Hillingdon Council is due to meet again on the 17th and 24th of February, both Thursdays. They will have to discuss their budget cuts on these dates. We need to continue lobbying and protesting to keep up the pressure on them!
See our leaflet below and come to the lobbies!
Hillingdon Against Cuts (HAC)
The Bankers and the Speculators have been bailed instead of jailed. Now the government of Millionaires want us to pay the bill for their greed and gambling losses. If we as ordinary working people had done what they have done; we would be in jail. Yet the Bankers continue to pay themselves Billions in bonuses as the young and the old, the low waged, the unemployed, the sick and the homeless are told that we must now pay to bail out their rotten, crooked system.
We say NO to all cuts in jobs and services. NO to the complete abolition of all secure Council Housing and massive increases in rents. NO to cuts in benefits and Care for the elderly, the unemployed, the sick and disabled. NO to Tuition Fees and the abolition of EMA. NO to the Privatisation of the NHS and Postal Services. NO to the Privatisation of the Fire Service. NO to all cuts in Youth Services etc, etc.
We must defeat the policies of the rich, for the rich and by the rich.
There is no need for the £81 Billion of cuts. The government should collect the annual £100 Billion unpaid taxes from their very rich friends in the City and Corporations. If we owe any taxes, we are threatened with legal action, bankruptcy and imprisonment. NO cuts … make the rich pay.
Hillingdon council intend to push through another £22 Million of cuts in jobs and vital services instead of demanding the necessary funding from the government, to meet the real needs of the people of Hillingdon.
